The Disciples of the Avatar have been summoned to the one true Britannia! There we do battle with the evil Guardian. . . we shall most likely not be seen on the world known as Sonoma for some time. But fear not, we shall return!

In other words, Ultima IX: Ascension has been released and both Willie and myself have been engrossed in it and will most likely remain so for at least a couple more weeks.

The Disciples of the Avatar, by the power of the Virtues, have entered an era of rebirth. The return of Willie has begun a trend of unprecedented progress:
  • We have finally accomplished one of our longest held goals. The Disciples of the Avatar have procured a stately Guild Hall. This two-story structure will soon be made open to the public.

  • The Virtuous citizens of Britannia have expressed interest in our Order in ever-increasing numbers. Indeed, alliances have been formed and friendships forged. We hope that the day may come soon that we might induct some of these noble citizens into our Order officially so that they too might strive to find the Way of the Avatar:

    • Fengrim delRhode
    • Clinewalker
    • Sir Jobe
    • Revalations
The Disciples of the Avatar now stand ready to bring the Way of the Avatar to the troubled people of this land. May those of Virtue come to our aid and help us in this most righteous endeavor.

Willie Hath Returned!

Beyond all hope. . . our liege hath returned to us. . .

Twas a dark day. I, Hurin, Acting High Apostle in my liege's absence, took it upon myself to clear the orc fort nigh cove of its foul denizens. But alas, the cruel magic of one of those foul mages took me at unawares. My last conscious memory was of the semi-human utterance of those dreaded words. . . "Kal Vas Flam".

When I came to myself again, I was wandering the woods east of Cove. I had little hope of returning to civilization intact and I quietly and calmly took a seat near an abandoned campfire and awaited my eventual rejuvenation or final demise.

But Virtue smiled on us that day. . . indeed, for the first time in months, fortune was with our Order that day. Against all hope, at that moment, my Lord Willie appeared at the edges of the dimly lit glade. But something was different. . .

He emanated power. . . the likes of which I had not seen before save in the presence of Lord British. He strode to the center of the meadow and spoke calmly: "Hurin, old friend, I can sense thy presence. My journey hath been long, but the flows of the ether hath informed me of thy demise. . . come to the fire and I shall reclaim thee for this world."

It was then that I realized--with a confounding combination of alarm and eerie calm--that I had been slain. The sudden sense of emptiness at my core almost overwhelmed me, but I summoned the last of my will that remained on this plane of existence and strode to stand before my liege.

With some otherworldy sense, his gaze fell upon me. . . and upon his muttering the sacred words "An Corp", I felt the fabric of my existence change. . . and then blackness.

When consciousness returned to me, I was resting comfortably in our humble guild hall on Avatar Isle, now fallen into disrepair in this tumultuous time. As I was nursed back to health, Willie told me of his whereabouts these last several months. He told me of his journey to the city of mages, Wind. He told me of his studies there, and alas, the selfless sacrifice of Bink, who gave his own life so that Willie might live as they battled their way through the dungeon leading to that fabled city.

Now, as vitality returns to my limbs, a new sense of hope fills my breast. Willie hath returned, much more powerful than before. Able to summon the dead and command the elements. . . few may stand before such might. May those who would do evil beware. . . for though we are now but two against the evil in the world. . . our power grows. . . as will our numbers.

Willie hath returned. . .

Alas! As thou canst see, the Disciples of the Avatar are in a period of transition, and perhaps termination. Otherworldy obligations and issues have led to the disappearance of some Disciples and, tragically, the demise of others. Indeed, I, Hurin, remain as the sole active Disciple in the world.

Quite a while ago, Kesric Thayne and Fritjoff Bleu were found slain in the depths of Spiritwood. Farewell friends. . . we shall not see thy like again.

More recently, our High Apostle, Willie, along with the trusted Disciple Bink, failed to return from an expedition meant to investigate Kesric and Fritjoff's murder. Though I have hope for their return, I fear the worst and have reluctanly taken up the mantle of High Apostle in my liege's absence.

Due to our Order's high standards, our guild has never been a large one. Now, this guild stands at a crossroad. . . will the Disciples of the Avatar rise from the ashes and begin anew? Or, will this once proud Order of Virtue succumb to otherworldy pressures and the apathy of the Britannian citizenship?

My goal is simple. Whenever possible, I shall travel the length and bredth of the land looking for Virtuous citizens. Those who show interest in following The Way and abiding by our Charter shall find a home here with us. At this time, we have not much to offer beyond comraderie, loyalty, and Virtue. Our Hall of Virtue stands in shambles. . . a testament to only one Virtue. . . humility. (grin)

Should this order rebuild its numbers to a respectable level, our first order of business will be to obtain a larger guild hall. This has been a goal long held by the Order. Perhaps with the changes coming to the world, we shall finally attain it. . .

May the Avatar help us and guide us. . . may Willie and Bink return safely to us. . . and may the Disciples of the Avatar not perish from the face of Sosaria.
