In this hall, thou shalt hear the music of Ultima VII: The Black Gate & Serpent Isle. The music of this Age is more complex, full-bodied, and realistic than that found during the earlier Age of the False Prophet.

Technical Notes

There were two sources for these MP3s:

CD Origin released a promotional CD which contained selected recordings from Ultima VII (as well as Strike Commander). These CDs were given out at trade shows and expos. The Roland LAPC-I is the device used on these recordings and the tracks therefore sound identical what I hear through my Roland LAPC-I while playing Ultima VII. However, because the quality of the tracks on the CD is a bit superior to anything I could achieve, I have used the tracks off the CD whenever possible.

Recorded
These MP3s were recorded by me using my Roland LAPC-I (the playback device) and a Sound Blaster Audigy (the recording device). Some of the music in Ultima VII was very 'quiet'. Meaning, it was not meant to intrude on the player's experience and was therefore played at a very low volume. Unfortunately, rather than adjust the volume of each track via software within the game, they apparently altered the original music files so as to be more quiet. Unfortunately, increasing the volume level artificially during the recording process introduced atrifacts and 'hiss'. For this reason, I decided to present them as they are. All are enjoyable. However, some may be more quiet than others and a few of the most quiet ones may exhibit a bit of "hiss" behind the music.



(The order in which these files appear follows no distinct pattern. Though you may notice that the more full-bodied, popular, high-quality selections appear towards the top while shorter, less popular selections appear towards the bottom.)
