Caution! Non-Roleplaying (Rambling) Monologue Ahead! I hate to break fiction and character. . . but it has come to my attention that some believe that Willie and Hurin are played by the same person. Is this true? No! Not that it's any big deal. . . but I just want to set the record straight. . . I, Hurin (the person who runs Dor-Lomin, maintains the Disciples of the Avatar web page, and maintains this page) play. . . well, Hurin. My "real-life" brother plays Willie. Playing UO is one of the ways we stay in touch (because we live about 300 miles apart). However, on the night Trinsic fell, my (Hurin's) UO account became severely bugged when I tried to gate into Britain during an attack by ratmen and lizardmen. Upon stepping through the gate, I could see only my character (on horseback) and blackness all around me. I assume that the masses of lizardmen and ratmen around Britain were to blame for this turn of events. Anyways, a GM informed me that I would not be able to log back in until the maintenance period for Sonoma had taken place. So. . . I had no choice but to play my brother's account. . . and so I took on the role of Willie for the night. Which was sort of a shame because I had looked forward anxiously to the climax of the Siege of Trinsic. . . which I had hoped to enjoy as "myself". Well. . . anyways, I decided that I might as well write all this into the story and I came up with the idea of Hurin's perceived death as a good way of writing him out of the story for that night. After all, I had indeed fallen the previous night rather--in my humble opinion--dramatically (twice). So, everything clear? My brother (who hasn't been playing UO much lately) normally plays the character of Willie. Yet, on the night Trinsic fell, it was I who was playing Willie because technical problems kept me from playing as Hurin. Well, again. . . not that anyone cared, but I thought I'd clear that up since some seemed to be confused. |
